Vietnam, like Thailand, is seven hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time/Universal Time Coordinated (GMT/UTC). Because it is so close to the equator, Vietnam does not have daylight saving time. Hence, without allowing variations for daylight saving, when it is noon in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City it is 9 pm the previous day in Los Angeles, midnight in New York, 5 pm in London, 1 pm in Perth and 3 pm in Sydney.
